Save The Children Honors Mott's Inc. For Ongoing Commitment To Children
Stamford, CT – June 25, 2002
Save the Children, a leading child development and relief organization, recognized Mott's Inc. with its Partners for Children Award during its annual International Gala in New York City. Mott's has provided more than $350,000 in support to Save the Children as seed capital for a nutrition curriculum to be distributed to the organization's national network of after-school programs.
Save the Children's partnership with Mott's has resulted in "Energy for Living -- Balancing Physical Activity and Nutrition," an innovative curriculum that directly addresses the impact of substandard nutrition on poor children's ability to study, stay in school, meet academic standards, and lead healthy lives.
"We are proud of our association with Save the Children. Together we are working to deliver the message about the importance of nutrition to the community. Our goal is to improve the physical and mental health of young people by providing educational information and entertaining learning activities.
The nutrition curriculum that has resulted from our partnership is just one of the many ways to achieve that goal," said Mott's president, Brad Irwin.
More than 400 Save the Children supporters attended the International Gala, which was hosted by Emmy award-winning journalist, Charlie Rose. Ann Richards, former Governor of Texas and board member of Save the Children, served as honorary co-chair along with Donald Keough, chairman of Allen & Co. Past corporate honorees recognized at Save the Children's International Gala include Donna Karan International, Procter & Gamble, and Denny's.
